"Rhyme of Dunhuang" Shows in Syria
The famous Chinese musical dance "The rhyme of Dunhuang" which reflects Dunhuang's thousands years of culture will be shown on the opening ceremony of "Chinese Art Festival" in Syria On April 2 . This is the second time "The rhyme of Dunhuang" being on show after a performance in Kazakhstan on
behalf of our country in 2006.
"The rhyme of Dunhuang" is a classical piece of Chinese stage performance based on the fresco stories from Mogao Grottoes and rural mythologies. It combines various of musical dance acts such as "Music from the Heaven," "Dancing to the lute," and "The Beat of Lei Gong" with mythologies and
Buddhist stories such as "Fairy from the moon," "The beautifully-voiced bird," and "Kwan-yin with a thousand hands," both singing, dancing, and music is employed in the performance. The whole performance consists of 12 chapters named "Flying to the sky," "Sweet sound," "Dancing in feather
vesture," "Beautifully-voiced birds," "The fish in the celestial fount," "Kwan-yin with a thousand hands," "Festive event in Mogao" and so on.
The overture "Sounds of Nature" extends people's compliment to the fresco artists and the fancy to the fresco they created; the dance "Holy Land" exhibits the scene in which two fairies fly out of the fresco and dance gently; the musical dance "Flying to the Sky" represents people’s admiration
to the flying fairies and their yearnings for a beautiful life; the lute solo "Battlefield" depicts the scene in which the officers and soldiers fighting fiercely and bravely on the battlefield of ancient China and their thirst for a harmonious and peaceful life; the dance "Sweet Sound" exhibits
the verve of Chinese ancient music and dance elaborately through the fairies playing lute and gentle dance; the Chinese zither performance "Heroic guise" displays a scene in which young royal girls practiced Kungfu a thousand years ago whereas the dance "Dancing in Feather Vesture" shows the
magnificence and gracefulness of Chinese ancient royal music and dance; percussion dance "The Spirit of the Beat" recurs the braveness of ancient soldiers; in the dance "Beautifully-voiced bird", the fairy bird blesses people with good fortune and harmony; the solo "Bless in the camel’s Bel"
wishes the people happy and safe; the glittering hands in the dance "Kwan-Yin with a thousand hands" symbolize luckiness and their various of gestures enchant the spectators.
